A BOOK TO RECOMMEND........

One Book I like........

I have always thought: “Books are a gift”. I learnt to read when I was 4 years-old.  Since then, I have read many books and magazines. I love reading novels!

When you said to me the theme of this week’s homework, I did not know about what I could write. I have not “one” favourite book.  I have my own  little book’s collection at my parents’; and I cannot choose only one book to suggest to you. However, since I have read your e-mail I cannot stop to think about a book: One Hundred Years of Solitude, which was written by Gabriel García Marquéz, and it is a classic of latin-american literature. This book shows us how the rural lifestyle was.  It is an incredible book; I recommend it to you.  It has fun, romance and history.

Every book is a jewel to each reader. It depends on your style and your preferences. He who reads, enjoys…..!!

'ONE DAY AT THE CINEMA'

On Wednesday 10th Decembre, the pupils of 2nd ESO went to Joaquin Roncal – Zaragoza to attend the activity ‘One day at the cinema’. There, we could see the exhibition ‘The hazard ways’ based on the comic by Paco Roca. Then, We could watch the film ‘The last train by Diego Arsuaga, in which there was a story of some old men and a boy who were fighting for what they loved, in this case an old wagon that somebody wanted to take away in ordere to make a film.
Before and after watching the film, students could participate with the microphone in reflecting and commenting about the film directed by a monitor who suggested changing the title of the film or thinking about other films with trains.  You should all see this film.

(2º D- Sara Sin)

CHRISTMAS TIME !!!!!

I WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS
&
A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015

"THE LAST TRAIN...."

Last Wednesday, 10th ofr December, pupils from 2nd ESO went to see 'The last train' at the Joaquin Roncal in Zaragoza.

A rich man comes to a village to repair an old train wagon in order to make a film but........
Three men and  boy who had escaped steal the wagon steal it so that they do not take it away from the village as it is part of their history.

The boy goes back to his house and the old man too. Then, they can't go through the bridge because the police has built a stone wall, so they have to stop and then, the village people go there to support them and sit on the railway.

Finally, the police arrest them but they become heroes for everybody and the train stays where it belongs.

The film was entertaining and I think that it is an interesting activity because they gave us like a guide to understand the film.

PLASTIC SURGERY...PLASTIC PEOPLE?

Some famous people are changing so many parts or their faces ... that we cannot recognize them.

What do our students think about it??

** Many teenagers think that beauty is only skin-deep as they only pay attention to the external appearance of a person, but in my opinion, it is very important to have a good health.
Therefore, I think that plastic surgery should be allowed for those people who really need it because they had an illness or an accident or something like that.
In short, people who are only interested in their look, sometimes forget to feel happy about themselves.  As I see it, when you feel good, you look good too.

** Nowadays, people that use cosmetic surgery are rising because the appearance is a very important topic in our society.

There are a lot of people that do a liposuction and operations to look better, and have more self-confidence, however, the experts say that a long term cosmetic surgery might cause problems and deaths. As I see it, cosmetic surgery is a stupid way to waste money and if you want to spend money, do it in an important thing.

In short, don’t worry if your appearance isn’t good enough because the personality is what matters.

** In my opinion, I’d never consider plastic surgery because I think it is a very dangerous  waste of money, however, people don’t think so as they don’t see the consequences, just think that it may make them look better and feel better.

Nowadays, a lot of young people come for surgery although these operations are very expensive, which means that their parents let them do it. Whereas, before, a small proportion of population could afford it.
Summing up the people prefer to spend a lot of money on operations that could cost their lives to look like someone they are not. When you can be yourself and work hard to become the person you would like to be one day in the non-distant futur

HORROR STORIES -HALLOWEEN

When I was a teenager, several older girls from my school went to an old deserted plantation house to hold an spiritual session

. They sat in a circle on the floor, placed a candle in the center and began trying to reach spirits of the dead. For whatever reason, they called upon the spirit of the Headless Horseman. As they held hands and murmured encouragement for the spirit to contact them, a sudden gusty draft blew through the enormous old room and the candle was extinguished. One of the girls began screaming and screaming in agony. In terror, the other girls grabbed her and they all ran out of the house. The screaming girl kept sobbing and sobbing, "My back! My back!". The other girls pulled her shirt up to see why she was in such agony and discovered a lash upon her back, as though someone with a horse whip had dealt her a cruel, warning blow. None of the girls believed that the Horseman ever actually existed, they were just playing around and trying to scare one another.

In short,  undeniably, something quite terrifying did actually exist and reached out from beyond to either inflict harm or a warning to a group of young girls dabbling in a realm they were obviously neither safe nor welcome.

EUREKA MOMENTS

Havew you ever had an 'Eureka moment' ??

The first thing I want to say is that those special moments happen to everyone in life, especially to me.

One of my best experiences happened when I was 14 years old. I was with me friends in a concert when suddenly on friend asked me about the name of one popular song that we were listening to and I couln't remembered it. It was very embarrassing, so 3 hours later, I was still trying to think about it. Then, it came to me and I was impressed. I felt like I had been born again, very released.

In short, I  believe you don't have to think, the answer will come up to your mind automatically.

THE BEST INVENTION ALONG HISTORY

According to many people, the wheel is one of the best inventions in history, though it isn’t my favourite.

I agree that if the wheel hadn’t been invented, we couldn’t have had any machines, any means of transport, etc… Practically everything around us works with wheels, or have been manufactured with machines working with wheels. At this moment, without it, the world would seem not like a modern world. However, there are also negative things, as because of the wheels there are lots of accidents every day.

To sum up, there have lots of good inventions along history which have helped to our progress in order to get a good quality of life.

OCTOBER /CURIOSITIES....

CURIOSITIES:

If the world is round and it is called ‘palaneta, why isn’t it called ‘redondeta’?
Why is it that when people are driving and can’t see, they put the radio off?
If a lawyer goes mad, can he lose his judgement?
Why do we open our legs when we get to the top of the mountain in order to breathe?
Why do we open our mouth when we look at the ceiling?
What do sheep count in order to get asleep?
7Why black plums are red when they are green?
Where is the other part of the Middle East? Where has it gone?
Why do we shrug our shoulders when it rains?
Why do we have to go to the beginning when we get to the end on the computer?

MARCH /MAKING UP STORIES

LOS ALUMNOS DE PROA – 2ND ESO
Han estado inventando historias a partir de un título:
 “LA RATA SABIA”

MAKING UP A STORY – “THE WISE RAT”
It was a dark night in the city of New York, where rats were wandering around in year 2.100 after the great tragedy in Planet Earth.

The rats had a lot of difficulties to survive as there was no food and not enough resources to feed themselves, we could say, they were almost starving. However, there was a wise rat who was very clever due to her experience in that kind of dire straits. She had lived in a UNICEF camp, where she had learnt that if you are resilient and patient, others may do your job. Soon she learnt that rats had divided in groups to check all the ruins left in the city and surroundings

SCHOOL EXCHANGE (THE NETHERLANDS)

On 19th-23rd of March, a group of students from 4th and 1st BTO (Pedro Cerrada) travelled to Gulpen in the Netherlands for a student exchange with the SOPHIANUM INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, as part of their project "ELVIS" ( Euro link virtual international school).

The students were staying at students' families and the teacher Marga H. at the teacher's home: Hans Vanderbos.

They will travel to Utebo in September 2014.

We attended some lessons, learning survival Dutch. We visited Maastrich and the Open University in a guided tour (anyone can apply to enter). We travelled to Amsterdam to see hte Rjiks Museum (Rembrandt, Van Gogh....) And on the last day some of us had the opporutnity to visit Achen (Germany) and the Palace of Carlo Magno, which was very interesting together with the Palace Chapel, one of the only things that was not destroyed in that town during the II World War.

Ah, one curiosity, they have the 3 countries point, where you can step your feet on the land of three countries at the same time: Germany, Holland and Belgium.

People were very friendly, they speak very good English and they are already eager to come to Spain in September 2014
